The parable of the candle

Mark 4:21-23

We talked this morning how God is not only on the mountain, but also in the valley. This evening we're talking about the parable of the candle.

John 8:12

So thankful I am that I have a relationship with Jesus.

As we look at this, I believe the light, brings action. When you turn the light on, things are exposed. What happens in the dark will always be brought to the light. When we got saved and accpeted the Lord Jesus, He flipped the light and exposes us to what needs to be done to get to heaven. It's the light switch that gets flipped when the holy spirit enters our heart that helps us find our way to heaven. It's impossible to block out the light of Jesus. There's no way to contain the light of Christ. We were born in darkness, from the time we were born to the time we accepted Jesus Christ. He exposes us to what We've done wrong and what we need in order to fix it.

We should have a desire to share the action that light brings with other people. You don't hide it under a bushel, just like that children't song, "this little light of mine."

I'm going to charge you today, if you haven't witnessed today with anybody, God wants you to plant the seed that He can shine the light on. God blesses us always. 1.) The light exposes sin. The light brings the excitement that the Holy Spirit shares with us. Sin will dim your light. You have to evaluate your life and see if youre on the path to righteousness. 2.) The light gives us salvation. Jesus is the light and Jesus is the way to salvation. What will help you live your life is the light living in your heart. 3.) Light ensures our sanctification. If we're not feeding our soul, 3 times a week is not enough to get to heaven. Are we reading our bible? Are we praying without ceasing? You can only grow so much with what you get out of church. We should be one step closer every single day. One day the sun will be outshined, and be outshined by Jesus. Do you know, that you know, that you know, that you know that Jesus has saved you, that you're going to heaven? It's only the blood of Jesus that saves us. One day, all of us, saved or not, we'll stand in judgement and we will be asked one question: Do you know Jesus? 4.) No everyone wants to hear about Jesus, that they're lost, and in need of salvation, but they need to hear it.
