Jesus and the Law

Matthew 5:17-18 - "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets:I am  not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."

Wht did Jesus do when he came to earth? When it concerns the law? How did Jesus handle the law? The law of Moses? Isreal was bound to follow this law. No one can follow the law except Jesus.

When Jesus came down as God in the flesh, He didn't say He was going to destroy the law, He came to fulfill the law. He is our example. Our focus should be on Jesus to follow the law.

Matthew 5:19-20 - "Whosoever thereforew shall break one of these commandments, and shall teach men so,  he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no cae enter into the kingdom of heaven."

In verse 17, Jesus was talking to the Jewish people because they thought He was going to run the Romans out and set up His kingdom right there. Jesus followed the law completely. He is our example, we should strive to follow. If we tried our best to follow the law, like He did, but we're human and are not capable to completely follow the law. We are not perfect.

In verse 18 - The law is suppose to be fulfilled by Jesus. There is suppose to be a sacrifice to fulfill the law. Jesus knew that He would have to be our sacrifice. He knew back with Adam and Eve. He knew He is the only one who can make our way to Heaven. Pastors can't get you to Heaven. Don't turn your back on what's most important, your relationship with Jesus.

If you get nothing else, know that the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ.

Matthew 5:21-22 - "Ye had heard that it was said by thm of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgement: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without cause shall be in danger of the judgement: and whosoever shall say to his brother; Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire."

You just have to be angry with others to be brought to judgement. That's what makes us unworthy to be the perfect sacrifice. Everything we do should be done with our focus on Jesus.

In verse 18 - We know Jesus is the only one who can fulfill the law. When Jesus said, "It is finished," when He was on the cross, He was saying, "I won." He was telling us, the devil, and God that He took our sins and showed us the way to salvation.

The devil is the prince in this world but we klnow the king. Not just know, but are related to the king, we've had a blood transfusion from Jesus.

There are 613 laws in the old testament that tells us our laws. The 10 are God's moral law. God himself revealed those to Moses.

From His birth to when He died on the cross, Jesus didn't commit the first sing. He was able to walk the walk. That's why He's the perfect sacrifice.

613 commandment and I can't follow 10. That's why I'm unworthy to be the example. Not only did God reveal the law, Jesus lived the law. Jesus didn't live a sheltered life, He lived a holy life.

The world teaches us to look out for #1 but the scripture tells us to look out for others to have compassion for others. Jesus concealed the law in our hearts, that's how we know when something is wrong and a sin.

The Bible says if someone has fallen, then we should help them up.

Romans 2:14-15 - "For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

Are we following the law that's written in our hearts? If you truly love someone as you do yourself and you know they're not following the law, pray for them.
